The Power of Laughter: How Humor Can Heal and Improve Your Health

Updated: May 2

As I continue to learn and explore on this self-growth journey, I have noticed at times I become so immersed in the work that I lose sight of an important piece. It’s a piece that brings the energy of abundance and fun even when things are getting deep and serious. I received this message as I was wondering through the woods and connecting with nature during a break at a workshop.  The message is laughter is the best medicine.

It's a message I noticed that has been present in the past few months especially when I have surrendered to life. When I let go of attachments and expectations and just trust what is meant for me will show up. Instead of stressing and worrying, doing activities that I find enjoyable and fun. It’s led to me watching more comedic shows and movies and spending time with people in a more lighthearted manner. Not taking everything so seriously and opening to more ease in life.

I am by nature a person who enjoys a good Dad joke and on occasion share one too. I notice that when things start getting serious and the conversation is heading in a direction that does not align with peace, I will crack a joke. It’s the reminder that we all can focus on life however we choose. I noticed when laughter is present it brings back childhood feelings of play and joy. The feeling of freedom and silliness. As adults we sometimes lose sight of the blessings around us. Laughter is a fun way to attain a high vibration that brings you closer to love. It’s not about avoiding those tough conversations but reminding ourselves that we don’t have to sit in the situation to feel it. You can choose to move through it with ease and grace or stay in a lower vibration of sadness and frustration. An easy and fun way to change the energy is through laughter like watching an episode of The Office.

When I’m immersed in a deep conversation and have this big epiphany of something profound you will find me smiling and laughing. It’s because I realize how easy it can be if I allow myself to see the situation differently. It’s an aha moment, noticing it’s something I can work on. Not to mention I am in the work of embodiment, so I find that if I would like to attract joyous energy into my life, it’s important to believe and feel it and how better to do that then to be silly and have fun.
