What's Up Doc?

With so much going on everyday, it can weigh a person down with so many different emotions and feelings. Feelings that need to be expressed and spoken out loud to release. To share these thoughts and emotions. All that is necessary at these times is an ear. Someone to listen to the conversation, just be present and willing to hold a safe space.

Not responding or having the need to console that person speaking. Just to be open to listening and allowing that person the freedom to express their true emotions. A willingness to accept and not judge their thoughts. To be holding the space where you don’t have the need to fix the situation or save that person.

Supporting someone through empathy. People just want to be heard and seen in life. To be able to hold space and listen to an individual is a beautiful gift. The gift of love by being present and listening to them. This is a wonderful way to express your affection for another person. Where they feel accepted and embraced for who they are.

Next time you see someone in pain or who needs to get something off their chest, maybe consider just listening. Showing them that you care and are holding a safe, loving, space to speak. With no other agenda on the program other than using your empathetic ears.
